I cannot believe this, so so stupid of me
Has anybody ever put their ipod through the washing machine and had it live?
Please say yes.
Despite my own Zune devotion, Husband loves his ipod.
And it was in his jeans.
And now it is very, very waterlogged and very very dead.
Help?

Oh my goodness. I left my cell phone out in the rain once. It wasn't good. Hope you have better luck with the ipod. But FWIW, if Husband left it in his pocket, it's at least partially his fault, IMHO. If that makes you feel any better. :-}
I had my cell phone in one of those cargo pockets and waded out into the pond with it this past summer. Ooops. I put it over a register so the air conditioning could blow directly on it and dry it out. When I turned it on the next day it worked just fine, so maybe there is hope for the iPod???
I have no idea if an ipod can survive a go-round with a washing machine, but I will admit to being terrible at checking pockets before shoving things into my washing machine. I would have totally done the same thing. Hope it comes out okay...and squeaky clean, too.
I saw this happen to a cell phone, and we took out the battery and let it dry. Can't really do that to an ipod though... Maybe the Apple store can help?
ipods can survive, just let it dry for a week or two, do not try to turn it on until it is very very extra dry, or it could fry.
my husbands survived a swim and a diet cherry coke invasion, so a trim through the washer should be ok.
Did you get it at BestBuy? Because they have the most amazing return policy ever...my hubby's IPOD had an unfortunate occurence (blunt force injury...like I said, unfortunate) and they returned/exchanged it for a better IPOD. I hope you didn't get it from TOY'R'US...
I washed mine. They are really small and it's easy to miss. Anyway, I found it after the wash cycle - it didn't get dried - and I tried to turn it on, which was a big mistake, then put it in a ziploc bag w/ Damprid (a dessicant). (You can also get some of those dessicant packs from shoes if it's convenient). The key is to NOT turn it on until you are SURE it's dried out completely (like a full week).
Mine, I'm sad to say, died. It lived again for a week but then it died.
Good luck! Sorry if that is too late to help.
You know what, i think i did do that to Dh's ipod, and it lived. Dried out & was fine. But i am not 100% sure it was the ipod, it might have been a cellphone? There was some small electronic device that made it through the wash, that's all i can say. Hope yours makes it through.
